Information Services only supports computer hardware, printers and smartphones that have been purchased through IS.

Any equipment purchased by any other means will not be supported by IS.

PCs, printers and smartphones

IS can provide staff with PCs, laptops, and the like from the standard hardware range:

Desktop: Information Services recommends minimum standards for desktop equipment.

Printers: A wide selection of supported printers, to cater to different printing requirements is also provided.

Smartphones: IS provides a support service for approved portable devices/smartphones purchased through IS. All devices costs are charged to the relevant department.

The approved devices function as phones, while also enabling staff to access their email, Outlook calendars and limited access to the internet from both on and off campus.

The device will be purchased through and pre-configured by IS. Note that this smartphone service is currently available only to Central Administration staff, and that only smartphones purchased through IS under this program will be supported by the IS Service Desk.

All standard laptop and desktop PCs supplied by IS come with a standard suite of software installed. This includes:

  • Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64
  • Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 x86
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 8

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader.

UWA maintains a number of on-site systems which are not directly supported by IS. Support information for these systems can be found at the following links:
