The UniDrive service provides staff and students with structured data storage areas which can be accessed from both on and off campus.
In addition to being accessible via university-managed desktops and laptops, staff and students can connect to UniDrive using their personal devices (such as laptops and tablets).
Staff and students are both given a "Home Drive" area, in addition to shared workspaces or "Shared Drives" based on business area and/or course enrolment.
Staff can access their network drives via three different methods:
You have access to two different areas within your network storage:
- H: Drive - this is your own work-related documents drive - on windows-based computers this includes the Desktop and "My Documents" libraries.
- S: Drive - Shared Data used by staff in UWA Business Units which have had their data migrated to UniWA storage.
Note that this S: drive shared business unit data will not be available using the UniDrive Web Portal, but can be accessed remotely and securely via WebDAV as described below
1. Access via UWA-managed computers
You can access your network storage drives on any computer in a UniWA-migrated area (if you're unsure whether this applies to your area, please contact your local IT group).
Once logged in to a computer, the shared drives will be mapped automatically as per the screenshot below:
2. UniDrive access via your own computer/device
Note: For Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, we now recommend the UniDrive Client as the preferred method of connecting to UniDrive from your own computer.
To access your UniDrive network storage using your own personal device, follow the appropriate setup guide for your device.
These guides will allow you to map your network storage drive via the WebDAV protocol, so you can manage and edit your files on your own device.
For Android and Apple iOS devices, you will need to download a WebDAV client of your choice for your mobile device.
The guides below outline the settings and information you will need to provide to setup the client app to access UniDrive.
3. UniDrive access via web portal from any internet browser
A UniDrive web portal is available to allow access to some UWA data stores via any web browser - browse to https://unidrive.uwa.edu.au and login with your staff number and Pheme password.
IRDS shares are also available, however external access must be enabled. This can be requested by the IRDS store owner via a Service Desk request.
This is method useful on devices where you do not have the rights to, or do not wish to configure your details onto a device, e.g. at an internet café, using a friends laptop etc.
NOTE: Using this access method, you need to download your files from UniDrive through the web portal to your local device in order to open or edit them. Make sure to upload the file back to UniDrive to save your changes.
Staff Data (S: drive) shares will not be available via this method - please see instructions on mapping folders on your device.
